Function: Triple-Pathway Appetite, Metabolic, & Fat-Loss Support
Retatrutide is one of the newest and most powerful fat-loss peptides because it works on three pathways at once:
GLP-1 receptor → helps control appetite & stabilize blood sugar
GIP receptor → helps you feel full faster and improves how your body handles food + curbs cravings
Glucagon receptor → increases overall energy expenditure + promotes the breakdown of stored fat
Most weight-loss peptides hit only one or two pathways.
Retatrutide hits three.
How hungry you feel
How full you feel + cravings you have
How fast your body burns stored fat
So instead of just suppressing your appetite like semaglutide (Ozempic) does, Retatrutide also:
helps you stay full longer
reduces cravings
speeds up fat breakdown
boosts energy burn
You’re not just eating less, your body is burning more.
“What are the differences between Semaglutide, Trizepatide, and Retatrutide?
Semaglutide (Ozempic) has one function: suppress appetite
Tirzepatide has two functions: suppress appetite + make you feel fuller faster, longer, and reduces food cravings
Retatrutide has three functions: suppress appetite + make you feel fuller faster, longer, and reduces food cravings + use energy more efficiently and switches your body to use fat as a fuel source
Both Semaglutide & Tirzepatide are FDA-approved
Reta is still in clinical trials, but is set to get FDA approval in early 2026
What People Commonly Notice
(Not medical claims — just reported experiences)
reduced appetite (but not as strong as the other GLP’s)
feeling full sooner
fewer cravings
easier calorie control
faster fat loss
more energy
improved blood sugar stability
when compared to Semaglutide, less harsh side effects
It’s very effective, and dosing responsibly is important.
Important Side Effects
Because it’s strong, common early side effects include:
nausea
bloating
mild stomach discomfort
fatigue on higher doses
constipation or diarrhea
reduced appetite
lower libido/difficulty reaching climax
Starting LOW helps minimize this.
Who This Is Not For
Retatrutide is not ideal for someone who:
already struggles to eat enough
doesn’t want appetite suppression
is not ready to focus on nutrition
prefers gentle or slow changes
In Short:
Retatrutide targets appetite, fullness, and energy expenditure all at once.

My Experience with Retatrutide (Weeks 1-4):
I started microdosing Retatrutide 2x a week.
Why microdosing?
To mitigate the potential negative side effects
The half-life of Reta is roughly 5 days, so by doing it 2x a week, it’s constantly in your system. People who only inject 1x a week can start to feel it potentially wear off on the 5th-6th day.
My starting dose: 1mg per week, split into 2 injections per week = 0.5mg per injection
After the first two injections during week 1, I had zero appetite, I got really full, fast, I had a few headaches, and I was hit with texture aversions. Out of nowhere, foods I normally loved suddenly felt repulsive. Scrambled eggs? Barf. Absolutely not.
I didn’t really get nauseous as most people report, but I did get random light headaches that would last all day.
The appetite suppression was extreme. I’d get full after eating half a banana. I’d go the entire day without feeling hungry at all, and by nighttime I’d realize, “Oh… I probably need to eat something so I don’t die.”
My energy tanked, and it wasn’t because of the peptide. It was because I wasn’t fueling myself. I was basically running on E for days. It wasn’t sustainable or cute. I remember thinking, “Yeah… this is yikes!”
It’s not safe or sustainable. It was actually scary and uncomfortable. I was so fatigued and malnourished.
Weeks 2–3 were a completely different story. I stayed with the same small dose, but the effects were chilled out.
The intense appetite suppression calmed down, and I could finally eat like a normal human again. I could finish a proper meal (not a massive one, but enough to feel satisfied) and then just stop naturally.
I stopped snacking, craving snacks, and thinking about snacks. I’ve always been a snacker, especially when I’m stressed or bored. Not having that constant urge to graze throughout the day was a huge win for me.
My energy also came back once I was eating more consistently. I’m still in a calorie deficit because I’m using the peptide for fat loss, but now the deficit feels intentional instead of accidental. My hunger cues are calmer, my portions feel reasonable, and I don’t feel the need to overindulge on Hot Cheetos Puffs the way I used to.
Overall, the experience went from “wow, this is terrifying” to “okay, this is actually working with my body instead of against it.” And that’s the sweet spot you want to find with any GLP peptide.
By week 4, I lost 6lbs.
By around the 5 and a half week mark, I lost 7.5 lbs. Which, to me, feels safe and sustainable for my body. I cannot speak for you and your body.
Retatrutide dosage can also be increased if you stop feeling the effects altogether, but I haven’t gotten to that point yet. And I don’t need to lose any more than 10 lbs, so I would prefer to ride the wave safely back to my goal weight, instead of overdoing something and causing more harm than good.
For the first time in over a year, I feel more confident in my body, my waistline is slimmer, and I look more proportionate to my frame. I don’t feel like a blob anymore; I feel like myself again. And I feel so much relief because my body image has been such a big insecurity for so long.
My goal for Reta is personal to me and is motivated by my wanting to fit into my jeans again. I’m very aware that body image/weight loss can be a topic of great sensitivity for some. I understand the realities of eating disorders, and I am by no means encouraging anyone to do any activities that are harmful to their health. The purpose of this is to help you get healthier, not unhealthier.
[Update: week 6/7 ish I have lost ~8 lbs and have increased my dose to 2mg per week, split into 1mg injections 2x/week]
I will continue to monitor my body. Once I reach a good stopping point for myself, I will stop my cycle and monitor some more.

Update: At around week 8-10, I had lost 10lbs and I was really happy with my results. I have since stopped using Reta.
