I finished my GLOW protocol - thoughts and next steps
GLOW really worked but here's why I'm not doing GLOW again
GLOW was the first peptide I ever tried. The one that made me fall in love with peptides. The one that completely transformed my skin from the inside out.
But before we get into my final thoughts, let’s take it from the top.
What is GLOW?
Glow is a peptide blend of GHK-Cu + BPC-157 + TB-500.
GHK-Cu: boosts collagen and elastin production, which helps repair your skin barrier and improves firmness
BPC-157 and TB-500: aids with tissue repair and helps heal wounds, muscles, ligaments, tendons
When you think about your skin, your skin barrier is the mechanism that works like a wall. It keeps the bad stuff out and the good stuff in. It shields you from pathogens, pollutants, and irritants. It is rich in lipids that help prevent water loss, keeping your skin hydrated and smooth.
What happens when your skin barrier is damaged?
Moisture escapes, irritants enter. This can lead to dryness, flakiness, redness, sensitivity, inflammation, and more.
How do wrinkles form?
Wrinkles form when your skin loses elasticity. This is due to decreased collagen and elastin, which is caused by natural aging, sun damage, and dehydration.
How does GLOW help your skin?
The GHK-Cu boosts collagen and elastin, while the BPC-157/TB-500 helps with tissue repair, which shows up in your skin barrier.
My experience
GLOW had me looking glowy within the first few days. And over the course of the next 8 weeks, it had completely transformed my skin. I was visibly dewier because my skin was more hydrated and retaining that hydration better. I was visibly tighter and firmer, due to the boost in collagen and elastin. I was getting compliments on my skin almost daily, even by people who see me often. They were noticing every day how great my skin was looking.
Although I will say, the results peaked by week 8. Weeks 8-12 I was maintaining my results, but they weren’t compounding like before.
If GLOW is so good, why stop?
BPC-157 and TB-500 are healing peptides that should only be taken when needed. If your tissues are in good shape, you don’t need to take it. You wouldn’t put a Band-Aid on perfectly healthy skin, would you?
For me, GLOW did exactly what I needed it to do:
It repaired my skin barrier
It improved hydration retention
It brought back firmness and elasticity
It got me to a really solid baseline
Now that I’m there, continuing BPC-157 and TB-500 doesn’t feel necessary.
What does make sense long-term is continuing GHK-Cu.
GHK-Cu is the peptide that directly supports collagen, elastin, and overall skin remodeling.
This is the peptide that actually benefits from consistent signaling. It doesn’t “build up” in your system, but the effects compound over time.
So I’ll be running GHK-Cu daily, long-term, as my maintenance peptide.
Why I’m adding KPV
This is the part I’m personally excited to experiment with next.
I have acne-prone skin. Always have.
And while my skin looks great right now, I still get frequent breakouts, especially around times of stress, travel, or hormonal shifts.
One thing I know about acne is: it’s a symptom, not the root cause.
The root cause of acne? Inflammation. (And hormones.)
KPV is an anti-inflammatory peptide that works by switching off the inflammation signal. (*Dumbed down, but the sentiment is there.)
Instead of trying to “dry out” acne or treat it on the surface, I want to work from the inside out. Reduce the inflammatory environment that allows breakouts to form in the first place.
So my new approach is:
GHK-Cu → ongoing collagen, firmness, skin integrity
KPV → inflammation control and calm skin
No BPC-157.
No TB-500.
Peptides aren’t the ONLY solution (*IMPORTANT)
Peptides are powerful tools but they don’t override lifestyle.
If you’re eating ultra-processed foods every day full of seed oils, chronically dehydrated, malnourished, under-sleeping, and living in a constant stress response… inflammation is going to win. No peptide stack is going to save you from that.
For me personally:
I don’t eat much processed food
I avoid seed oils
I prioritize protein, micronutrients, and hydration
I take sleep and recovery seriously
So adding KPV isn’t me trying to “out-supplement” a bad foundation; I’m fine-tuning an already solid one.
Peptides work best when they’re supporting good inputs, not compensating for bad ones.
Why I am ALSO getting functional labs done
The root cause of my acne could also be a hormonal imbalance. Paired with the inflammation. So that’s why I’m still going to the doctor to get functional lab tests done in order to see MY OWN science, the science of my body.
That is the only way I can be sure that I am healing at the root cause, not just treating symptoms.
Final thoughts
GLOW will always have a special place in my heart. And I still recommend it to everyone. But I will also give you all the science.
GLOW was a great jump start for me, but now I don’t need the BPC-157 or TB-500.
And that’s really the takeaway here.
Use peptides strategically, not indefinitely.
Build a strong foundation, then maintain it.
